Let Ss suppose to be a traveler to ask directions to go to a small town.

Show Ss a summary that “we should use suitable languages”.

Discussion.
Let Ss to discuss the language used to make polite requests. Were they the same each time? If not, discuss why.

Let Ss read the article in 2b and match each paragraph with its main idea.

Let Ss find all the direct questions and polite requests from the passage in 2b.

Let Ss look at the requests in the column, then describe a situation when the request would be suitable as it is and make the request more polite.
