Unit 2 I think that mooncakes are delicious! The Fourth Period ( Section B 1a-1d, self check) Teaching Aims: Knowledge Objects Function: Give a personal reaction. Key Vocabulary: haunted, ghost, trick, treat, spider, dress up. Target Language: I know it’s a popular festival in North America and it’s on October 31st. What do you like most about this festival? I think it’s fun to dress up as cartoon characters! Structure: Learn to talk about the festivals by using the objective clauses. Ability Objects Learn how to talk about the festivals by using the objective clauses. Improve Ss’ ability of listening and speaking and train the ability of personal reaction. Moral Objects Stimulate Ss’ love for different national cultures and customs. Teaching Key Points Improve Ss’ ability of listening and speaking. Teaching Difficult Points Learn and master the objective clauses with that, if and whether. Teaching Aids: PPT Teaching Procedures Step 1 Greetings Step 2 Self Check Have one student say the key structures of exclamatory statements with “what” and “how”. Let Ss finish Self Check 2 individually and ask five Ss to report their answers. Ask two Ss to retell the story of Mid-Autumn Festival. Make sentences about festivals you like using these words+ that/ whether/ if.( Self Check 3) Step 3 1a Have Ss listen to the song Trick or Treat first. T: What do you think of this song? Ss: … T: Do you know what festival it’s about? Ss: Halloween. T: Do you know something about Halloween? Let’s look at some pictures.( Teach some new words in this period.) Step 4 Listening Practice Give Ss one minute to go through the 3 questions in 1b. Then listen to the conversation for the first time. Let Ss read the statements in 1c, T helps Ss try to understand the meaning of these. Then listen to the conversation. Check the answers. Listen it again. Encourage some Ss to retell the story of Halloween according to the pictures and what they have heard. Step 5 Self Check 1 Give Ss five minutes
