So this paper chooses the ancient towns in rapid urbanization areas as objects: first, to review the development process of the ancient towns in rapid urbanization areas and analyze the characteristics of their tourism development conditions; second, to point out there are three major contradictions in the ancient town such as urbanization and over-commercialization, rental and hollow, homogenization; third, to explain the principles that the ancient towns in rapid urbanization areas should follow in tourism development process; fourth, to summarize the tourism development models of the ancient towns from main development body, methods and industry interactionOn the basis, this paper focuses on the case of Shawan ancient town which is the only national historical and cultural towns in Guangzhou. And then, to analyze the tourism development conditions and the existing model in Shawan ancient town by the information and data.
