* The most up to date information will often be available on line before it is available in print * In Emergencies information system is a complex system made up of several sub-systems defined, among other things, by area/sources (e.g. health, agriculture, social welfare, military, etc.) and functions/purposes (e.g. hazard/risk assessment, EWS, CD surveillance, etc.). In emergencies some elements are of critical importance: Timeliness of data (quick, reliable) for decision making and operations/actions management Simplicity and flexibility of the methods used for collecting data (protocols, etc.) On-going process (rapidly changing figures/situation, etc.) Need for data storage, retrieval and updating * In Emergencies information system is a complex system made up of several sub-systems defined, among other things, by area/sources (e.g. health, agriculture, social welfare, military, etc.) and functions/purposes (e.g. hazard/risk assessment, EWS, CD surveillance, etc.). In emergencies some elements are of critical importance: Timeliness of data (quick, reliable) for decision making and operations/actions management Simplicity and flexibility of the methods used for collecting data (protocols, etc.) On-going process (rapidly changing figures/situation, etc.) * One important role of the HEM is to contribute to: Coordination Harmonization of collection Utilization Dissemination of information from these different sub-systems so that they feed unto each other in a timely manner.
