M ethods B tw n Jan. 1995 and Jan. 2004, 72 cas s of APB J w ithou t CCC w r id n tifi d by ERCP, MRCP, and intraop rativ cholangiography ( IOC ) . R lationship b tw n acu t pancr atitis and APB J was analy s d r trosp ctiv ly. Resu lt Th ov rall incid nc of APBJ in this s ri s w as 217% . Pancr aticob iliary junction anomaly was furth r substratifi d into as P-C typ ( th pancr atic duct join ing th common bil duct) in 43 cas s, and C-P typ ( th comm on bil duct join ing th pancr atic duct) in 29 cas s. Th incid nc of acu t pancr atitis w as 35% and that of gallb ladd r ston w as 74% . Conclusion Th incid nc of acut pancr atitis in APBJ w ithou t CCC is high. In cas of r lapsing acut pancr atitis w ithout known caus , APBJ shou ld b susp ct d. Prophylactic chol cyst ctom y is ff ctiv to pr v nt acut pancr atitis.
