Some Indians speak English with an accent very close to a Standard British accent (though not the same); Others lean toward a more vernacular, native-tinted, accent for their English speech. Spoken and writing English Indian English-Oral /?/ (as in dress) and /?/ (as in trap), E.g.“tax” like the first syllable of “Texas”； When a long vowel is followed by “r”, some speakers of Indian English usually use a monophthong（单元音）, instead of the diphthong（双元音）. E.g.“fear” is pronounced [fir] instead of [fi?]； Use strong vowels where other accents would have unstressed syllables or words. E.g. I was going _ [??z] or [?as] in Indian English/ [w?z]. “the” as /d?i?/ “the” is pronounced as [e?] when it is unstressed and lies before a consonant, and as [ei?] when it is before a vowel or when stressed even before a consonant.
