Lesson 73-74
The way to King Street
Last week Mrs. Mills went to London.
She does not know London very well, and she lost her way.
Suddenly, she saw a man near a bus stop.
‘I can ask him the way.’ she said to herself.
‘Excuse me,’ she said.
‘Can you tell me the way to King Street, please?’
The man smiled pleasantly.
He did not understand English!
He spoke German.
He was a tourist.
Then he put his hand into pocket, and took out a phrasebook.
He opened the book and found a phrase.
He read the phrase slowly.
‘I am sorry,’ he said.
‘I do not speak English.’
1. Last week Mrs. Mills went to London.
last week, three days ago, yesterday... ...时间副词,放在句首或句尾
复习学过的:
always,often,usually,sometimes,seldom,never 频率副词,放在助动词后主动词前
He often gets up at 5 o’clock.
We don’t always go to school by bus.

know…well 对…了解
--Do you know him well?
--I don’t know Italy very well.

lost 是lose的过去式
lose v. 丢失
--I lost my key the day before yesterday.
lose one’s way 迷路了

suddenly adv. 突然地
--He suddenly came in.
--Suddenly, they screamed.
5. ‘I can ask him the way.’ she said to herself.
say to oneself 心中暗想
talk to oneself 自言自语地说
6. Can you tell me the way to King Street, please?
the way to ... 通往…的道路
on the way to school
the key to the front door.
on the way home
ask sb the way to... 向某人问去...的路
tell sb the way to... 告诉某人去…的路
--Can I ask you the way to the railway station?
--Can you tell me the way to the railway station?
--Can you tell me the way to the park?
--Excuse me. Which is the way to the No.22 bus stop?
--I must find a way to solve the problem.
