Attachment 2 Appendix 1 Page 1 of 28 Superpave Expert Task Group on Mixtures and Aggregates Report of the Task Force for Review of AASHTO TP 62-03 A procedure for a simple performance test to augment the Superpave system was identified under NCHRP 9-19 and equipment is being further evaluated under NCHRP 9- 29. In September 2003, the Expert Task Group on Mixtures and Aggregates (ETG) established a task force to work with the project coordinator and FHWA to review the test procedures and suggest changes to the existing AASHTO Provisional Test Method for “Determining Dynamic Modulus of Hot Mix Asphalt Concrete Mixtures” – TP 62-03. The task force comprised both members of the ETG and other volunteer specialists. The task force membership is shown below with official members of the ETG designated by an asterisk. The review has been completed and the task force has offered suggested changes to the specification that address the following: number of test replicates; specimen instrumentation; temperature equilibrium time; computation of dynamic modulus (E*); and master curve development.
