Ve etation provides potential erosion control and slope protection, throu h its hydrolo ical and me
chanical interaction of plants with local climate and soil. The theoretical understandin of these ve e
tative effects is the base of slope eco- en ineerin . In the past few decades, the importance of ve e
tation in protectin slopes has been stressed by many researchers. The reater aw areness t hat ve eta
tion can play a ran e of roles in slope protection has made it increasin ly a valuable tool in natural en
vironmental protection and civil en ineerin . and this know led e has led to a increasin application of
ve etation types w orld- wide. Thou h it is still a kind of youn techniques, an increasin amount of
experience of slope eco- en ineerin of ve etation is atherin from the past practices, and t he la er
number of successful ex amples of its applications is showin its reat future.
