The goal of CBT is to assist patients in changing their maladaptive thinking patterns and overt behaviour by acquiring more adaptive ways of responding within themselves and with others. What is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy? CBT as an empirically-validated therapy. Review Chambless and Ollendick, 2001 for lists or well-established, probably efficacious, and promising therapies.
