学习目标
1. Learn some new words and phrases: …ago, ping-pong.
2. Talk about the past form “could” of the modal verb “can” and its negative form “couldn’t”.
(1)She can fly kites very well now. But one year ago, she couldn’t do it at all.
(2)She can perform ballet very well now. But when she was five, she could dance just a little.
(3)They can sing English songs now, but they couldn’t sing any English songs two years ago.

Step1. Show time: Ask the students to recite the dialogue in last section.
Step2. Review.
Play a guessing game: Show some pictures that are hidden partly and then guess the following phrases: play football, perform ballet, fly a kite, play basketball.
Srep3. Lead-in: Ask the students : T: “What can you do?” S: I can… T: What could you do when you were five years old? S: I could…
Step4 Presentation
1. Learn the usage of can and could.
Show students a pair of pictures and compare them then lead them to say some sentences with can, can’t, could and couldn’t..
Show them one more pair of pictures and ask students to complete a sentence with can and could.
Show another pair of pictures and ask them to make a sentence with can and could.
2. Learn 1a of section C.
1) “Do you know what can Kangkang, Michael, Jane and Maria do?”
2) Watch the video of 1a and finish a table of 1b then check them.
3) Read the whole passage together and find out the sentences with can, can’t, could and couldn’t.
4) Practice: Look at the pictures and an example to make some similar sentences
5) Writing exercises: What can you do now but couldn’t do in the past? Write down the answers. The more the better.
6) Play a competing game: Make sentences within 30 seconds
