It is hardly to avoid commercials or other advertisements in our daily life. They are everywhere, on TV, newspapers, buses, subways, and even on every Apps of our cell phones. Some people insist that advertisements should be restricted for its negative influence on people. However, as far as I concern, it is unnecessary to ban all of them from the public.
First and foremost, the aim of advertising is to provide sufficient information to the audience, telling them the details of certain products, or other information they may want to know. Spreading information, though sometimes may be annoying to those who doesn’t need it, is not a crime. On the contrary, it may be a good deed. For example, by reading a recruitment notice on the newspaper, a man who needs a job may find a proper position that may lead him to a prosperity career from then on.
Further more, it is undeniable that advertising is a well-developed industry therefore billions of people is benefited from it. On one hand, the audience is benefited. Free newspapers every morning, free apps on cell phones, even free ice creams can be get without any charge by reading the commercials on the newspapers or clicked certain links on the apps. On the other hand, millions people engaging in this industry are directly benefited. They make their living for making advertisements.
Yet, it is admitted that there are problems in advertising. Fraud information, such as exaggerating effects of certain products, misleading, etc. is provided to the public sometimes through few commercials. It is a problem that exists along with the development of the whole society. And it is better to leave the problem to laws and other administrative regulations. For instance, commercials for tobacco and alcohol were prohibited years ago when the law has taken into effect.
In conclusion, at the age of information, it is obviously unable to ban all the advertisements from the public at all since information spreading is crucial
