AS 2550.11/Amdt 1/2008-01-31 STANDARDS AUSTRALIA Amendment No. 1 to AS 2550.11—2004 Cranes, hoists and winches—Safe use Part 11: Vehicle loading cranes REVISED TEXT The 2004 edition of AS 2550.11 is amended as follows; the amendment should be inserted in the appropriate place. SUMMARY: This Amendment applies to Clause 5.10 (new). Published on 31 January 2008. AMDT Clause 5.10 (new) No. 1 JAN Add the following new Clause: 2008 5.10 SIDE-LOADING CRANES The following precautions shall be taken during operation of a side-loading crane: (a) Only ISO containers or flatracks or similar dimensioned loads specifically permitted by the manufacturer shall be handled by the side-loading crane (b) The operator shall stand clear of the operating area, as stated by the manufacturer. For semi-trailer-mounted side-loading cranes, the tractor shall be coupled during operation (c) The stabilizers shall be deployed on the lifting side of the side-loading crane and shall not be raised while load is suspended (d) The side-loading crane shall not be used to drag a load across the ground.
