if / whether 引导的宾语从句
一、由 if 或 whether 引导的宾语从句。 if/ whether 是否“ ”，说明对陈述的事物不明确或不清楚。
常用在 ask, wonder, can(could) you tell me 等后，二者通常可以互换。
例如： Lily asked if/whether she liked it. 莉莉问她是否喜欢它。
I want to know if (whether) he lives there. 我想知道他是否住在这儿。
He asked me whether (if) I could help him. 他问我是否可以帮助他。
小试牛刀： 1、Mr.Ding asked . Could he come at seven ?
2 、She wanted to know. Did you have a good time?
二、只能用 whether 不能用 if 的情况
（1）在介词后面：
例如： I ’m thinkingof whether we should go fishing.
We are worried about whether it will rain tomorrow.
（2 ）在动词不定式前 (whether to do sth.) ：
例如： They asked me whether to go skating.
（3）当与 or not 连用，或提出两种选择时 :
例如： I don ’t know whether he ’s free or not.
Mary asked whether I was doing my homework or not.
（4 ） 宾语从句提前时：
例如： Whether this is true or not, I can ’t say.

1. I asked her___________ she had a bike.
2. We ’re worried about ___________ he is safe.
3. I wonder ___________ he is well.
4. I don ’t know ___________ or not he is well.
5. I don ’t know ___________ to go.
三、宾语从句的语序：引导词 +主语 +谓语 +其他成分
例如： I think that we can be good friends.
I can ’t remember if I posted the letter.
May we ask what you are doing?
四、特殊的宾语从句———间接引语
当直接引语是一般疑问句，改为间接引语时，连接代词用 if 或 whether ，而引述选择疑问句时用 whether ，
引述动词用 ask ，没有间接宾语的可以加一个间接宾语 me, him 等。
例如： She said to Tom, “Can you help me ? ” →She asked Tom if / whether he could help her.
She asked, “Is this book yours or his? →She asked me whether that book was mine or his.”
