PROCEDURES: (continued )
Both groups will stay holding the side and instruction will begin with the first stroke, e. g. breast stroke.
Demo a)
Isolate the legs first. The group will be shown the proper leg action by the instructor, who will demonstrate while sitting on a chair and using his legs to produce the frog kick.
Pupil Demo b)
One person will then be chosen to demonstrate out of the water.
Practices c)
Then, while holding the edge at arms length, all the children will try the leg kick and the instructor will give advice on correction.
Practices d)
Then, using floats if available, the children will do two widths or lengths at medium speed, while concentrating purely on the legs.
Summary and Questions e)
The instructor will then summarise the information given on the leg kick and ask a few questions.
Demo f)
Having taken in the main points, the children will then be taught the arm action. This is begun by a demonstration by the instructor showing the correct action,
Pupil Demo g)
One person will then be chosen to demonstrate the arm action out of the water.
Practice h)
While kneeling on the steps or standing in shallow water the children will then try the arm stroke while the instructor gives advice and correction.
Practice i)
Then, again using floats if available, the children will try two widths or lengths using arm action only. This is quite difficult and encouragement should be given.

Summary and Questions j )
The instructor will then summarize the information given on the arm stroke and ask a few questions.
At this stage the arm stroke and the leg kick will be brought together and children will try a few widths while concentrating on both. The instructor will give advice and encouragement. The better pupils will at this stage be doing lengths while the others will do widths.
This break down instructions should last 35 to 40 minutes. The final 20 minutes will be used for a few games. There should be a select
