域在媒体播放期间可以被更改。域可以看作是一个文本块，该块由许多单词组成，每一个单词又由许多字符组成，Director提供各种属性把单词、字符从块中分开。下面介绍控制域的各种属性.
(1)text
Text 可以在播放期间修改它的值。
如：
Set the text of field “firstfield” to “this is new text field”;(2)、Number of what
域的基本组成元素有line(行)、item(项)、 word(单词)、char(字符)。其中line实际上应该称为段落，它以换行符隔开。Word以空格或者Tab字符隔开。如：”He’s a good-looking man”是4个单词而不是6个单词。
The number of what of field whichField返回域中基本元素的数目。其中参数what就是line、item、word或者char， whichField就是域名。
