Unit 4 Soil pollution;Soil pollution or soil contamination refers to anything that causes contamination of soil and degrades the soil quality. Soil pollution occurs when the presence of toxic chemicals, pollutants or contaminants in the soil is in high enough concentrations to be of risk to plants, wildlife, humans and of course, the soil itself. ;Cau;【 Agricultural Activities】 Chemical utilizations seep into the ground after they mix with water and slowly damage the composition and reduce the fertility of the soil.;Cau;【Deforestation】 Because of deforestation, soils lose their vegetation cover and it may never be made fertile again.;Cau; Effect on human health Health risks, from direct contact with the contaminated soil, vapors from the contaminants, secondary contamination of water supplies in the underlying soil. For example: Crops grown in polluted soil will indirectly do harm to us. Those who eat unhealthy food could easily get sick . Polluted soil may affect the structure of gene and cause congenital diseases and chronic health problems. Livestock will also endanger our food safety.; Effect on growth of plants Unable to adapt Quantity of fungi has declined Fertility diminished; Soil pollutants would bring in alteration in the soil biodiversity. Contaminated soil also has the potential to seep into large water bodies, which will have an effect on the overall ecosystem. ;A number of ways have been suggested to control the current rate of pollution.;;;
