About the Writer::Confucius Confucius (551479 BC), given name Qiu, courtesy name Z hongni, was a na ve of the state of Lu during the S pring and Autumn period. He is a famous thinker, educator and founder of Confucianism. A nd he compiled China’s first chronological history book S pring and Autumn A nnals. T he A nalects of Confucius, a collec on of sayings wrien down by his disciples, mainly records the words and deeds of Confucius and his disciples. Facing the social reality of “the decline of Kings, the aboli on of rites and j us ce, the loss of poli cal power, and the special customs of the family”, Confucius put forward the poli cal thought with “propriety” and “benevolence” as the core, and its highest ideal was to establish a society, that is, the whole world was one community . Confucius first ini ated the ethos of private learning, advoca ng that teachers should follow the teaching method of “teaching without discrimina on” and “helping the world”, and should teach students according to their specific ap tude. Born into a noble family, Confucius became an official of the state of Lu. He went to the state of Lu to study the sutras. He returned to the state of Lu with 3,000 disciples and his descendants spread all over the world. He was always impar al and kind to everyone, and has been honored as the “god of the Muduo”. He has been renowned all over the world up to now. He is listed among the world’s cultural celebrities. 1
