Step 1 Lead-in
1.Present pictures of some kinds of pollution. Ask Ss to say what pollution each is.
2.Ask Ss what we should do to save the planet. Encourage them to talk as much as possible.
Free talk
What may cause pollution?
Why do many of the factories pollute the air and rivers?
Do you think plastic bottles can be recycled into clothing?
Step 2 Listening
1. Ask students to listen and complete the sentences of Activity 2.
2. Ask students to listen again and do Activity 2.
3. Check the answer with the whole class.
Step 3 Listening and reading
1. Ask students to talk about the questions: Why is Lingling worried about the future?
Why is pollution a danger to our health?
What do you think can cause pollution?
2. Ask students to listen to the dialogue and answer the question: What are they talking about?
3. Ask students to complete the notes.
4. Listen and repeat the dialogue.
Step 4 Language points

Step 5 Pronunciation and speaking
