Ye3 Describe the mechanism of skeletal muscle contraction
(1) Establishment of action current by an impulse
(2) Release of Ca2+ from storage areas in the SR
(3) Binding of Ca2+ to troponin of the thin filaments cause a
conformation change that move tropomyosin to a position
that exposes the myosin-binding sites on the actin subunits
of the thin filaments
(4) Sliding of actin-containing thin filaments toward the center
of the individual sarcomeres of a myofibril , driven by forces
generated in the myosin cross-bridges that extend outward
from the thick filaments
(5) Ca2+ dissociates from troponin and returns to the SR by
transport proteins

Which is more similar to mitosis, Meiosis I or Meiosis II and why?
(1) Meiosis II
(2) because the separation in meiosis I involve the homogenom, it
is a reduction division; but the meiosis II involve the division of

the “sister” chromatid of one chromsome, it is a equational
division as well as mitosis
Ye 6 Give the evidences that microtubules are highly dynamic in the
Metaphase Spindle.
(1)The dynamic behavior of microtubules in the metaphase spindle
studied by photoactivation of fluorescence
(2) A metaphase spindle formed in vitro has incorporated three
fluorescent markers: rhodamine-labeled tubulin to mark all of the
microtubules, a blue DNA-binding dye that labels the chromosomes,
and caged-fluorescein-labeled tubulin, which is also incorporated into
all of the microtubules but is invisible because it is nonfluorescent until
activated by ultraviolet light
(3)The distribution of the chromosomes and microtubules in the spindle
can be seen
(4)A beam of ultraviolet light was used to uncage the caged-
fluorescein-labeled tubulin locally, mainly just to the left side of the
metaphase p
