In 1996, the same material was additionally certified for antichymotrypsin. This material was referred to as CRM 470 (as it was the 470th CRM funded by the European Commissions BCR programme) or, to distinguish it from CRMs of other producers, as BCR-470. ® In 2004, the European Commission launched the European Reference Materials (ERM ) initiative and BCR-470 was re-branded as ERM-DA470. This means that physically ERM-DA470 and BCR-470 is the same material. This was also pointed out in a note of the certificate of ERM-DA470 which reads European Reference Material ERM®- DA470 was originally certified as BCR-470. When the material became exhausted, the EC-JRCs Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements (IRMM) in collaboration with the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) produced a new batch of a certified reference material.
