For example, during the 2019 Super Bowl, companies spent an average of $5.25 million for a 30-second advertisement. The reason for this expenditure is simple: advertising works. It is believed that advertising increases the likelihood of consumers choosing one brand over another, and in the long term, can build brand loyalty. Secondly, advertising can be used to influence societal norms and beliefs. Advertisements often present a certain lifestyle or way of living that people aspire to. By portraying certain products as desirable, advertisers can manipulate peoples perceptions of what is important in life. For example, many advertisements for beauty products depict women with flawless skin and perfect bodies. This can contribute to the growing pressure on young women to conform to unrealistic beauty standards. However, advertising can also be used for good. Charity organizations and government agencies often use advertising to raise awareness of social issues and to encourage people to support a cause. For example, the “Don’t Drink and Drive” campaign has been successful in reducing drunk driving accidents. Other campaigns, such as those aimed at promoting healthy eating habits and exercise, can also have a positive effect on individuals and society as a whole. Finally, advertising can have a global impact. The rise of social media and the internet means that advertisements can now reach a global audience. This has opened up
