As the second semester of the 2020-2021 academic year draws to a close, it is important to reflect on the progress made in English class in Beijings Chaoyang District. Throughout the semester, students have explored a variety of themes and topics, expanding their knowledge and language skills. In this essay, I will discuss some of the topics covered and the skills developed in English class, as well as offer some suggestions for future improvement.One important aspect of English class this semester was the emphasis on oral communication skills. Students were given many opportunities to practice speaking, whether it was through class discussions, presentations, or group activities. In particular, students were encouraged to use new vocabulary and sentence structures, and to express their ideas clearly and fluently. This has helped students to feel more confident when communicating in English, and has also improved their listening skills as they learn to understand their peers ideas and opinions.Another area of focus this semester was reading comprehension. Students read a variety of literature, including short stories, poems, and non-fiction texts. Through this, they have learned to analyze and interpret different types of writing, as well as identify literary devices such as metaphor and symbolism. Additionally, students were encouraged to think critically about the themes and issues raised in the texts, and to form their own opinions and perspectives.Grammar and vocabulary were also important aspects of the curriculum this semester. Students learned new grammatical structures and sentence patterns, and practiced using them in both speaking and writing. In addition, students were taught new vocabulary words and phrases, which were reinforced through class discussions, writing exercises, and quizzes. By building their grammar and vocabulary knowledge, students are able to express themselves more accurately and effectively in English
