认知语言学视角下的《易经》隐喻和转喻的英译研究的开题报告 Title: A Study on the Translation of Metaphors and Metonymies in the Book of Changes from the Perspective of Cognitive Linguistics Background: The Book of Changes (Yi Jing) is a classical Chinese text that has been used for divination and as a philosophical text for over 3,000 years. It is also known for its rich and complex use of metaphors and metonymies. However, most of the existing English translations of the Book of Changes have not fully captured the nuances of its figurative language. Therefore, a study on the translation of metaphors and metonymies in the Book of Changes is necessary. Objective: The objective of this study is to explore the translational strategies of metaphors and metonymies in the Book of Changes from the perspective of cognitive linguistics. Research Questions: 1. What are the different types of metaphors and metonymies used in the Book of Changes? 2. What are the cognitive mechanisms underlying the use of metaphors and metonymies in the Book of Changes? 3. What translational strategies can be used to accurately convey the figurative language of the Book of Changes in English? Methodology: This study will adopt a qualitative research approach. The data will be collected from the Book of Changes and its English translations. The metaphors and metonymies in the text will be identified and analyzed based on the principles of cognitive linguistics. The translational strategies will be proposed based on the findings of the analysis. Expected Outcomes: The expected outcomes of this study are: 1. To identify the different types of metaphors and metonymies used in the Book of Changes. 2. To provide insights into the cognitive mechanisms underlying the use of metaphors and metonymies in the Book of Changes. 3. To propose translational strategies that can accurately convey the figurative language of the Book of Changes in English.
