Research Proposal: The Current Status, Existing Problems and Strategies of Teacher Collaboration in Middle School English School-Based Research
I. Introduction
Middle school English teachers play a critical role in the teaching and learning of English as a foreign language in China. In recent years, school-based research has increasingly been promoted as an effective means to improve the quality of English education in China. However, little is known about the current status and effectiveness of teacher collaboration in middle school English school-based research. This study aims to investigate the current status, existing problems and strategies of teacher collaboration in middle school English school-based research.
II. Literature Review
Review of relevant literature reveals that individualistic culture and traditional teaching practices are major barriers to teacher collaboration in Chinese schools. Studies also suggest that teacher collaboration can lead to increased teacher knowledge, improved teaching practices, and student achievements (Liu Nyunt, 2019). However, factors such as lack of trust and communication skills, heavy workload, and unequal power relations can hinder effective collaboration among teachers (Jiao Yang, 2021).
III. Research Questions
1. What is the current status of teacher collaboration in middle school English school-based research?
2. What are the existing problems in teacher collaboration in middle school English school-based research?
3. What are the effective strategies to enhance teacher collaboration in middle school English school-based research?
IV. Methodology
This study will use mixed research methods, including surveys and interviews, to collect data from middle school English teachers in China. A total of 100 teachers will be selected from five different schools using stratified random sampling. The survey will be used to collect quantitative data on the current status of teacher collaboration
