Research Question: How can I, as an English teaching assistant, help to improve middle school students English speaking skills in a Chinese classroom setting? Objectives: 1. To design and implement engaging and interactive English speaking activities that can promote students vocabulary and fluency. 2. To encourage students to speak up and express their ideas in English. 3. To foster a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable and confident to practice their English speaking skills. 4. To evaluate the effectiveness of the English speaking intervention by analyzing students pre- and post-intervention speaking assessments. Methodology: This action research will be conducted in a Chinese middle school over a period of six weeks. The target students are a class of 30 eighth-graders who are at a beginner to intermediate level in English speaking. The research will include the following steps: 1. Pre-intervention assessment: Administer a speaking assessment to establish the baseline level of students English speaking skills. 2.
