However, news English, as a special language discourse, often contains rich and complex metaphors, which may pose great challenges to translation. Therefore, this study aims to explore the translation strategies of metaphors in news English, in order to enhance language competence and develop appropriate translation skills. Review of Literature: The literature review will focus on the following aspects: 1. Definition and classification of metaphor in news English; 2. Theoretical framework of translation strategies for metaphors in news English; 3. Previous studies on translation strategies of metaphors in news English. Research Questions: 1. What are the main types of metaphors in news English? 2. What are the common translation strategies for metaphors in news English? 3. Can the translation strategies of metaphors in news English be improved through language competence and translation skills training? Methodology: This study will adopt a qualitative research design. A corpus of news articles from reputable international media outlets will be collected, which will be analyzed in terms of the types of metaphors used, translation strategies employed, and the factors influencing the selection of translation strategies. Interviews with professional translators, language scholars and news editors will also be conducted to gain a deeper understanding of the translation strategies for metaphors in news English.
