中英文视觉节律的比较研究的中期报告 Midterm Report on Comparative Study of Visual Rhythms between Chinese and English 摘要 中文和英文是全球使用最广泛的两种语言，对两种语言的视觉特征进行比较研究，不仅有助于加深我们对人类交流方式的理解，还可以为不同文化间的视觉设计和传播提供参考。本研究旨在探讨中文和英文的视觉节律，通过对两种语言在排版和设计中的重心、对比、节奏等方面进行比较，分析其差异和共性，并尝试从语言习惯、文化传统、审美偏好等角度解释其形成原因。 中文和英文的视觉节律有明显的差异，主要表现在以下方面：1）中文排版的重心多在底部，英文排版的重心多在中间；2）中文对比明显，英文对比较柔和；3）中文的节奏多变、跳跃，英文的节奏比较平稳、连续。从语言习惯、文化传统、审美偏好等角度来解释这些差异，我们认为主要有以下原因：1）中文文字结构的特点决定了其排版重心偏低；2）英文的文化传统对对比和色彩的处理有着影响；3）不同语言的审美偏好也是视觉节律差异的一个重要因素。 通过对中文和英文的视觉节律比较研究，我们可以更深入地了解不同语言的交流方式、文化传统和审美意识，以及其对视觉设计的影响，对今后的跨文化视觉设计和传播研究有一定的参考价值。 Abstract Chinese and English are the two most widely used languages in the world. Comparing the visual features of the two languages can not only help us deepen our understanding of human communication methods, but also provide references for visual design and communication between different cultures. This study aims to explore the visual rhythms of Chinese and English, compare their differences and commonalities in terms of emphasis, contrast, rhythm, etc. in layout and design, and attempt to explain the reasons for their formation from the perspectives of language habits, cultural traditions, and aesthetic preferences. There are significant differences in the visual rhythms of Chinese and English, mainly manifested in the following aspects: 1) the emphasis of Chinese typography is mostly at the bottom, while the emphasis of English typography is mostly in the middle; 2) Chinese has obvious contrast, while English has a softer contrast; 3) the rhythm of Chinese is changeable and jumping, while the rhythm of English is relatively stable and continuous. To explain these differences from the perspectives of language habits, cultural traditions, aesthetic preferences, we believe that there are mainly the following reasons: 1) The characteristics of Chinese word structure determine its typesetting emphasis; 2) English cultural traditions affect contrast and color processing; 3) Aesthetic preferences of different langua
