Abstract
With China’s ambitious One Belt One Road initiative, the Silk Road Economic Belt has been put in the spotlight. This initiative aims to revive the ancient Silk Road trading routes and boost economic cooperation between Asia and Europe. Along the route, creating international aviation hubs is one of the essential strategies to enhance logistics and transportation, as well as promote tourism. This paper aims to investigate the competition between the Silk Road Economic Belt aviation hubs, analyze the factors affecting their competitiveness, and explore strategies to improve their positions.
Introduction
The Silk Road, an ancient trade route, has long been significant to the development of the economies and cultures of Asia and Europe.
With the Chinese government’s One Belt One Road initiative, the Silk Road Economic Belt has gained global attention, aiming to build stronger trade and connectivity between more than sixty countries. In particular, creating international aviation hubs along the route entails building infrastructure such as airports, air cargo facilities, aviation maintenance and repair facilities, and developing aviation-related industries, leading to economic growth and development. This paper focuses on the competition among Silk Road Economic Belt aviation hubs, analyzes their relative competitiveness, and explores strategies to improve their positions.
Competition among Silk Road Economic Belt Aviation Hubs The Silk Road Economic Belt spans more than 60 countries,
including China, Mongolia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Iran, and Turkey, with vast potential for cross-border trade and tourism. To take advantage of this potential, the Chinese government has planned for several aviation hubs along the Silk Road Economic Belt. These hubs aim to enhance trade and connectivity by providing efficient logistics and transportation services, and to promote the tourism industry by facilitating travelers’ journeys.
