The Story: Subject, Special feature
and the Significance
• Subject
We find a subset of slow solar wind whose heavy ion
composition is abnormal – the Outliers.
• Special feature
The fully ionized charge states of heavy ions are
dramatically depleted in the Outliers.
• Significance
Outlier slow solar wind is a direct by-product of
ma ic reconnection that release the solar wind.
