Through the analysis and arrangement of existing patent literature, the following conclusions are obtained: 1. The key to innovative design of mechanical products lies in technical innovation, which often depends on the forefront grasp and application of patent knowledge. 2. The channels for obtaining patent knowledge include querying patent databases, reading patent literature, reviewing patent applications and authorizations, etc. 3. The methods of innovative design of mechanical products include parallel design, reverse design, incremental design, structural optimization design, etc. 4. The application of patent knowledge can be realized through patent citation, patent analysis, patent collection, etc. Among them, patent citation can help researchers understand the development process and trends of a certain technology or product. 5.
