TheAGDSFY2023IndustrySnapshotpaintsapictureofanindustrycontinuingtogrowandmatureata
steadypace.Over$345millionwasgeneratedbyAustraliangamedevelopersinFY2023,representing
anincreaseof21%overthepreviousyear.Atleast2,458peopleworkdirectlyinthesector,representing
employmentgrowthof17%.Thelocalindustryismaturingwithasignificantnumberofbusinesseshaving
morethanadecade’sworthofexperience.
Muchofthisgrowthhasbeenunderpinnedbythesuiteofsupportofferedbythegovernmentsatboth
FederalandStatelevels,providingconfidencetothesectorandtheabilitytocommencemanynewgame
projects.Despiteadverseglobaleconomicconditionsdirectlyimpactingoursector,Australiandevelopers
remaincautiouslyoptimistic,withalmosttwo-thirdsofrespondentsaimingtohiremorestaffin2024.
