Abstract

Themodulusofasphaltpavementisanimportantparameterinpavementdesignandanalysis.However,duetothecomplexityofpavementstructureandthevarietyofmaterials,itisdifficulttoaccuratelymeasurethemodulusofasphaltpavementinthefield.Therefore,itiscommontouseforwardcalculationmethodstoestimatethemodulusofpavement.

Thisstudyaimstoinvestigatethecorrectioncoefficientofmodulusestimationbasedontheforwardcalculationmethodforasphaltpavement.Theresearchmethodsincludeliteraturereview,mechanicalanalysis,numericalsimulation,andfieldmeasurement.

Basedontheliteraturereview,itisfoundthattherearedifferentcorrectioncoefficientsformodulusestimationbasedontheforwardcalculationmethod.Therefore,furtherresearchisneededtodeterminetheappropriatecorrectioncoefficientfordifferentpavementstructuresandconditions.

Mechanicalanalysisandnumericalsimulationwereconductedtoinvestigatetheeffectsofpavementsurfaceconditions,thickness,andtemperatureonthemodulusestimation.Theresultsindicatedthatthesurfaceconditionsandtemperaturehaveasignificantimpactonthemodulusestimation,whilethethicknesshasamoderateeffect.

Finally,fieldmeasurementswereconductedtovalidatetheresultsofthemechanicalanalysisandnumericalsimulation.Theresultsshowedthatthecorrectioncoefficientobtainedfromthefieldmeasurementswasconsistentwiththeresultsofthenumericalsimulation.

Overall,thestudyprovidesapreliminaryunderstandingofthecorrectioncoefficientformodulusestimationbasedontheforwardcalculationmethodforasphaltpavement.Furtherresearchisneededtodeterminetheappropriatecorrectioncoefficientfordifferentpavementstructuresandconditions.
