MyhusbandandchildrenthoughtIwascrazybutIdidn’tcare.Ididn’tmovemuchwhiledoingmyjobattheuniversityandI’djusttakenuprunningtoturnbacktheclockalittle.Ihadallthemomresponsibilities,too.Betweenmyworkandfamilyresponsibilities,findingtimeformyselfseemedimpossible,butIknewplayingsoccerwithkidswouldmotivatemetokeepactive.

Ishowedupwithbutterfliesinmystomachandlowexpectations.IjustknewoncetheysawhowoutofshapeIwas,they’dletmekicktheballafewtimesandthenlookforayoungergirl.Duringdrills,Iwasslowandgotbreathlesseasily,butmydesiretodothatmademedriveforward.Maybetheyweretouchedbymyspiritormaybetheyjustneededaplayer—theyletmeinanyhow.
