    immediay.Myhandshotup.Answering“Pamir,”Iwonitallformyteamandtheyadmiredmeformy

    extensivegeographicalknowledge.Iwastheonlyonewhoknewtheanswer.EveninprimaryschoolI

    wasfascinatedwithgeography,probablybecausetheworldmapthatmydadputonthewallofmy

    bedroomstartedmyinterestseIwas6.Andthisfriendlyclasscompetitioninspiredmetowantto

    learnmore.IwasconstantlyreadingandstudyingasitwasasubjectthatIwassoobsessedwith.

    Naturally,whenIbeganatUniversityofPetroleum,therewasnoquestionastowhatIwould

    majorin–GeographicInformationSystem.Thecombinationofcoursesartography,remotesensing,

    GPSandcomputerscienceallalignedwithmyinterestsandIknewthatitwouldprovidemewitha

    strongeducationalfoundation.Takingadeeinwesternculture,IalsodecidedtostudyEnglish

    LanguageandLitureanddeclareadoublemajor.Onlyabout80outof4,000studentsareaccepted

    intothedoublemajorprogrambecauseitrequiresagreatdealofcommitmentanddeterminationto

    balancetheworkloadfortwomajors.NotonlywasIacceptedduetomyhighGPAandstrongEnglish

    scores,Iwasalsoelectedasclass.

    AcademicAchievement

    Ihavealwaysbeenveryfocusedonmystudybecauseofmystrongdesireforknowledge.Iusuallyspend

    morethan11hoursadayonstudyandmydiligenceservesmewell.Mygradeshavealwaysrankedvery

    highlyandgainedmeacceptanceintoboththetopmiddleschoolandhighschoolinmycountyonafull

    ride.ByofmyfirstyearofcollegeIwasrankednumberthreeinmymajor.MysophomoreyearI
