Abasicunderstandingofantennaradiationpatternsisveryusefulforcorrectlypositioningyourwirelessdevices,inorder

toensurethemostidealtransmissionquality.Thisisevenmoreimportantwhenngprotocolyzercaptures.This

willprovidesomebasicinformationaboutradiationpatternsofvariousantennatypes.

RadiationPatternConcept

Whentransmitting,anantennawillnotradiatepowerequallyinalldirections.Theshapeofthispowertransmissionis

calledtheradiationpattern.Thispatternisprimarilytheresultoftheantenna’sconstruction,andcanbedetermined

eitherbysimulationorbymeasurement.

Theeasiestwaytounderstandthispatternistovisualizeitina3Dspace,butunfortunaythisrepresentationisnot
