本课程介绍北京大学SeYan教授于2009年创立的量化历史版颜色老师Syll通过理论与实践相结合，深入理解经济发展的全过程，并通过对比分析不同国家和地区的发展趋势，为未来经济发展提供参考建议此课程主要适用于工业革命以来，尤其是西方欧洲和美国等地的经验学习具体包括阅读教学材料，以及观看相关视频教程等我们鼓励学生主动参与到课堂讨论中来，通过小组合作和个人研究获取专业知识同时，所有课程材料均将在在线平台发布

Manystatementsthateconomistsmakeabouttheworldtodayareimplicitlyhistorical—that

is,theyarebasedon(oftenhighlystylized)notionsaboutthepast.Suchstatementsarepar-

ticularlycommonintheareaofeconomicdevelopment,wherepoornationsareenjoinedto

followthepathtosuccessthattherichestcountriesalreadyblazed.Forsuchrecom-

mendationstobevaluable,however,thehistoricalnotionsembeddedwithinthemneedto

besubjectedtomoreexplicitscrutiny.Thiscourseappliesthetheoreticaltoolsofeconomics

totheunderstandingoftheprocessesofeconomicdevelopmentaroundtheworldsethe

IndustrialRevolution,withaparticularfocusontheWestEuropeandtheUS.Particularly,

wewillexamhepatternsofeconomicgrowthsacrosscountriesandgeographicregions

aswellasthepotentialfactors(orinstitutions)thatmayhelppromoong-termgrowth.
