Abstract:

Thisnotesummarizesasystematicapproachdevelopedin2021-2023bytheSocialSustainabilityandInclusion(SSI)teamoftheGhanaCountryManagementUnit(CMU)tostrengthenthemanagementofchildlaborriskintheportfolioofprojectsoftheCMU.Theapproachevolvedfromtwoprocesses,namelyaportfolio-wideriskmitigationassessmentonchildlaborthatidentifiedapotentialtostrengthenhowchildlaborriskismanagedinmultipleprojectsoftheCMUportfolio,andthesubsequentdevelopmentofatoolkittohelpteamsandProjectImplementationUnits(PIUs)takeasystemicapproachtohowtheymanagerisksrelatedtochildlaborinprojects.TheoutcomesoftheseprocesseswerepresentedtoselectedmanagersandprofessionalsintheWorldBankandunderwentapeerreviewin2022.ThishasbeenfollowedbyaseriesoftrainingsforProjectImplementationUnitsinGhanain2022and2023,aswellasbank-widedisseminationmeetingsandtrainings.Theworkcontinuesin2024.
