Theshellisacommandlanguageinterpreter.Thischapterdescribesthesyntaxofthatcommandlanguageasitisusedbytheshutilityandthesystem()andpopen()functionsdefinedintheSystemInterfacesvolumeofIEEEStd1003.1-2001.
