ABSTRACT:Doweathershocksworsenconflictaroundtheworld?Toanswerthisquestion,thispaperuses
aninnovativedatasetcreatedbyusinggeoreferencingtomatchweatherandconflictdataatthesubregional
levelonamonthlyfrequencyacross168countriesover2013to2022.Theempiricalresultsshowthathigher
temperatureexacerbateconflictwhereitalreadyexists.Estimationsindicatethat,inahighemissionsscenario
andallelseequal,by2060conflictdeathsasashareofthepopulationforamediancountryfacingconflict
couldincreaseby12.3percentduetorisingtemperatures.Thesefindingsunderscoretheimportanceof
integratingclimateres
