Constructingnewenvironment-friendlybuildingsliketheoneMoranworksinisexpectedtogeneratemorethan6.5millionjobsby2030，accordingtopredictionsbytheInternationalLaborOrganization.Nexttoenergy，itwillbethesecondfastestgrowingsectorforgreenjobsinthecomingdecades.Thisjobsgrowthcomesfromagrowingneedforbuildingsthatcandealwithmultipleproblems：meetingtoughclimate-changetargets；risingenergycosts，watershortagesandanincreasedriskofextremeweatherconditions.Thisisdrivingamovementknownasgreenbuilding.

In2000，just41newconstructionprojectswereofficiallyratedasgreenbuildingsintheUS.Lastyear，thatfigurehadgrowntomorethan65,000.Elsewhereintheworldtherehavebeensimilarincreasesanditisatrendthatisexpectedtocontinue.InChinathegovernmenthassetanambitiousgoalaspartofitsfive-yearplanthatrequires50%ofallnewurbanbuildingstobegreencertified.
