AlfredNobelwasbornin1833toafamilyofengineersinStockholm，Sweden.NobelasayoungmanstudiedwithNikolaiZinin，awell﹣knownchemist.In1850，hemetAscanioSobrero，theinventorofnitroglycerin（炸药）inParis.Interestedinitsunpredictablenatureofexplodingunderpressureorheat，Nobelstartedtofindawaytocontrolitandmakeausableexplosive.In1857heappliedforhisfirstpatent（专利），anEnglishpatentforagasmeter.Afteryearsofefforts，in1867，attheageof34，Nobelinventeddynamite（炸药），whichismucheasierandsafertocontrolthannitroglycerin.DynamitewasanimmediatebusinesssuccessanditwaspatentedintheUSandtheUKandwaswidelyusedinmining.

Duringhislifetime，Nobelinventedandpatentedvariousexplosives.Hebuiltuphiswealthfromhis355inventions，fromwhichdynamitewasthemostimportant.

WhenAlfredsbrotherLudwigdiedin1888，aFrenchnewspapermistakenlypublishedAlfredsobituary（讣告）.Readinghisownobituary，Nobelwasdisappointedtofindouthispublicimage.ThenewspaperstronglyblamedNobelforinventingdynamite，givinghimthenicknameofthemerchantofdeathandsayingDr.AlfredNobel，whobecamerichbyfindingwaystokillmorepeoplefasterthaneverbefore，diedyesterday.

ToAlfred，thisobituarywasawarning.Hespenthislifetimealoneinventingthingsandwasdeeplyconcernedwithhowhewouldberemembered.Thisunfortunateeventinspiredhimtomakechangesinhiswill，soastoimprovehispublicimage，andtoberememberedforagoodcause.
