1.0Abstract:-

ConveyorsareseenonvirtuallyallintheCoalHandlingPlant(CHP)ofThermalPower

Plant.Theseconveyorsystemsarethebiggestproblemfortheplantmaintenanceengineer,

beingthecauseofmostplantshutdownsandinterruptcoalsupplytoboilersresultsinlossof

generation.Thereplacementofconveyorbeltsisusuallyamajoreventwhereasignificant

portionoftheCHPoperationisoftenbroughttoahaltformajor.Conventionalbelt

replacementprogramsinvolveclampingandcuttingoftheoldbelt,followedbyreel–by-reel

feed-in/feed-outofthenewandoldbelt,respectivelyusingwheelLoaders.Astimingisof

utmostimportanceinanyplantshutdown,thebeltchangeupactivityismoreimportant.

Thispaperfocusesonapplicationofbeltwinderforconveyorreplacement.Abeltwinder,

whichisproposedinthispaper,shouldbedesignedwithproperaccessoriesforreplacement

ofCHPconveyors.Thesystemwhichisintroducedinthispapertominimizetimeand

manpowerbydevelopingsystemtoremoveoldconveyorandinsertingnewataglancewith

lesstimeandmanpower.Thebeltwinderdiscussedinthispaperiskeepingviewof

replacementofconveyorbeltingofoneoftheCHPofthermalpowerstation.

2.0Introduction:-

Beltconveyorcanbedefinedasaloopedbeltonwhichcoalorothermaterialscanbecarried

andwhichisgenerallyconstructedofflame-resistantmaterialorofreinforcedrubberor

rubber-likesubstance.Themajorcomponentsofconveyoraredriveunit,pulleys,idlers,take
