However,individualityreferstohavingaseparatebutequalsenseofplaceinsociety.

IndividualismintheFrenchbusinessenvironmentmeansthatagreaterconcernisplacedon

socialstatusandbeingjudgedasanindividual.

Uncertaintyavoidance:

Highuncertaintyavoidanceculturestendtobeworriedaboutthefuture.Theyhavehigh

levelsofanxietyandarehighlyresistanttochange.Therefore,theseculturesdevelopmanyrules

tocontrolsocialbehaviors.Ontheotherhand,lowuncertaintyavoidanceculturestendtolive

daytoday,andtheyaremorewillingtoacceptchangeandtakerisks.Conflictandcompetition

arenatural,dissentisacceptable,devianceisnotthreatening,andindividualachievementis

regardedasbeneficial.Thus,theseculturesneedfewrulestocontrolsocialbehaviors.

OneaspectofFrenchculturethathasamajorinfluenceonbusinessinFrance,isthe

country’sattentiontorulesandregulations.
