Thebooksarepartofaliterarytreasurehuntthatissweepingthetown，reportedABCNews.Theyarehiddenonthestreets，inshopwindows，orinlocalparks.

Thechildrenfindabookthathasbeenplacedinaplasticsleeve，takeithome，readit，writetheirnamesinit，andtheneitherkeepitorre-hideitforsomeoneelsetofind.Theinitiativeisafunwayofencouragingchildrentoread.

SamanthaDixon，amotheroffive，foundedHiddenBooksafterreadingaboutsimilarinitiativesintheUS，UK，andNewZealandonFacebook.Realizingshehadabookcasefullofchildren’sbooksthatwerealreadyread，shedecidedtogivethemaway.

“It’slovelytowatchthelittlekids’faceslightupwhentheyfindthebooks.”Dixonsaid.She’shappythatthebooksherkidsreadandenjoyedarenowbeingreadagain.

Afterthreeyears，theprojectrunsitself.“Obviouslypeoplewerere-hidingbooksthatwerealreadyoutthere，butwehavesomelovelycommunitymemberswhoareoutthereregularlyhidingnewbooksforthechildrentoread，”Dixonsaid.

Peoplearedonatingbooksfromtheirbookshelves，fromschoolsupdatingtheirlibraries，frombookstores，andfromfundinggivenbyaprivatedonor.

“There’snothingnicerthanputtingsomebooksoutandseeingpeoplepickthemupandenjoythemorwalkingbackpastminuteslaterandthey’realreadygone，”PaulineDonovan，oneoftheorganizerssaid.

AndthebigplusisthatHiddenbooksencouragekidstoread.“We’veheardstoriesofchildrenpickingupbookswhodon’tnormallyreadandchildrencomingbackformore，”saidoneoftheproject’sorganizers，JulieTregear.
