Determinethesamplinginterval:1000/10=10.

•Randomlyselectthefirstfromthefirst10

peopleonthelist,thenselectevery10thsubsequently.

EasiertoconductascomparedwithothertypesofsamplingOR

Theselectedelementsaremoreevenlyspreadoverthepopulation

Disadvantage:

Maygetsampwhichareover-representedbyanyofthegender

(eg.almostallaremaoralmostallarefema).

(iii)

Usestratifiedsampling.

Select80maand20fematoformthesampleofsize100sothatthesampleismore

representativeofthepopulation.

Theselectionwithineachstrataaccordingtothegendermaybedonebysimplerandomsamplingor

bysystematicsamplingusingtheavailablenamelist.

2.HCI/2008

(i)aSampling

(ii)Alist,inalphaicalorderofthemaleandfemaleemployeescanbegeneratedseparately.The

listofmaleemployeeswillbenumberedfrom1to580inthatorderwhilethelistoffemale

employeeswillbenumberedfrom1to420inthatorder.Anumberween1to20,inclusiveis

thenselectedatrandom.Thecorrespondingemployeeandevery20themployeethereafterwillbe

includedinthesampleforinterview.Thismethodofselectionisdoneforboththelistofmaleand

femaleemployees.
