acceleratebodyfailure.Inaddition,thefearfromfallsmayimpairtheabilitytomoveandconstrict

thescopeofmobility,thereforeworseningthequalityoflifesignificantly.Consequently,itisof

greatrealisticimportancetomakeabalanceabilityassessmentforelderlypeoplewithaviewto

assistingtheminmobilitystatus,correctingposturesandpreventingaccidentalfalls.

Thereisnotacatch-alldefinitionofbalanceforthepresent.Balance,inmedicalscience,hastwo

meanings.Oneisastateofstaticbalancewhenthehumanbodyismaintainedinapostureof

stability.Theotherisastateofdynamicbalancewhenthebody,inmotionorsubjecttoanexternal

force,adjustsitselftomaintainapostureautomatically.Inmechanics,balanceoccurswhenthe

resultantforceonanobjectiszero.Balance,orstability,ofthebodyiscorrelatedtothepositionof

itscenterofgravityandtheareaofthebearingsurface.Thebodyismaintainedinbalanceiftheline

ofgravityfallswithinthebearingsurface,orelseunbalanceoccurs.

Aresearchinstitutemadearandomsamplingtestbydeploying42monitoringpointsonthebodyof
