Foreword
TheDigitalEducationCouncil(DEC)GlobalAIFacultySurveyaimstoprovideinsightsintofacultyuseandperceptionsaroundarti?cialintelligence(AI)in
highereducationtoinformdecision-makingforhighereducationleadership.WhenreadtogetherwiththeDECGlobalAIStudentSurvey,highereducationinstitutionleaderscanbegintopaintacomprehensivepictureofattitudestowardsAIintheirinstitutionsandthelevelofworkthatneedstobeundertaken.
Thereportcoversfaculty’soveralluseandperceptionsofAI,awarenessofAI’simpactonteachingandlearning,perceivedfuture-readinessforAIintegrationinteaching,andjudgementofinstitutionalAIguidelinesandcommunication.
Thissurveyhasgathered1,681responses,fromfacultymembersof52participatinginstitutionsacross28countries,offeringadiverserangeoffacultyviewpointsonAIineducation.WithinstitutionslookingtointegrateAIintotheircurriculaandteaching,thissurveyaimstoinforminstitutionleadershipoffacultyneedsandperceptionsregardingAIuse.
DatafromthissurveyaimstoprovidevaluableguidingpointsforinstitutionsongeneralfacultysentimentaboutAIineducation,highlightsfacultyconcernsregardingintegratingAIintoteaching,andidenti?espotentialareasforAIintegrationthatfacultyaremostopentotrying.ThevariedandglobalperspectivesrepresentedintheGlobalAIFacultySurveywouldnothavebeenpossiblewithoutthesupportandcontributionsofDECinstitutionmembersandall
institutionswhoassistedinthedistributionofthissurvey.
