Mostofthewaterthatfallsonlandeventuallymakesitswaybackintotheoceans.Someofthewatersoaksintothegroundandbecomesgroundwater.Groundwatercanbefoundundergroundinlayersofsoilandrock.Plantscanabsorbgroundwaterthroughtheirroots.Somewateralsostaysonthesurfaceofthegroundandflowsoverlandintoriversandlakes,eventuallyreachingtheoceansagain.
