Introductions to the Novel and Author Emily Bronte is considered as one of the greatest female writers in the history of English literature. The long novel Wuthering Heights is her masterpiece and shows her unique opinions of love and marriage. Wuthering Heights tells a story of superhuman love and revenge enacted on the English moors. The host of the Wuthering Heights, Mr. Earnshaw came back with a boy called Heathcliff who was unknown. And ha loved him better than his son Hindly and his daughter Catherine. After Mr. Earnshaw died, Hindly change the attitude toward Heathcliff. But Catherine was in love with Heathcliff. Later, Catherine married a country gentleman Edgar who lived in Thrushcross Grange because of some outside influence. So Heathcliff went away and then took revenge on the Earnshaw family. When he came back with wealth, he began to do his frenzied revenge. He gained the Hindly’s wealth by fraud, Hindly’s son was changed as a slave. Catherine was dead because of having a baby. Then he made some effects on his son, Catherine’s daughter and Hindly’s son. But Heathcliff did not get happy through the revenge, and did not escape from the love with Catherine. He died by eating nothing and drinking nothing in unrequited love. Although Emily actually wrote a novel filled with enthusiasm, looking over the history of English literature, the introduction about Emily is very little.?“Stronger than a man, simpler than a child”--- these words are Emily Bronte’s true epitaph, both as an artist and a human being. Emily?(1818-1848) was born in a small town in the wild moors of Yorkshire in north England. Her father, Patrick Bronte, was a curate in this area, and her mother died too early.
